Jana-Maria Hartmann, Founder

Following twelve years in the publishing industry, Jana-Maria launched JMH Literary Scouting in 2015. 

Born in Germany, she studied Comparative Literature at Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich and the Sorbonne in Paris and is a graduate of the Columbia Publishing Course. For six years, she worked as an editor for Berlin Verlag in the German capital.

Throughout her career, she has gained extensive knowledge of the international book market and an in-depth understanding of the US and UK publishing business that have shaped her professional instincts as a highly versatile reader. While Jana-Maria has mostly worked with fictional texts, she spends a lot of her free time reading non-fiction. She lives in Chicago.
